![]() Site Audit software is essential for any SEO job. ![]() This is helpful to demonstrate to a client what changes I have made to a website in the future, by having a snapshot of the website before I started. Keyword elements like Title and Description and their lengths.Ī review on how I use the Screaming Frog SEO Spider:įirst, I use the software to index the whole website and save the results as the “before” crawl. What does Screaming Frog SEO Spider do? It “crawls” through your whole website and creates a list of all your internal pages. Read on for a Review of Screaming Frog SEO Spider Tool. How many pages does it have? How are the titles and meta descriptions? Are there broken links? Site audit software is required for this job. It would be good if the product included integration with Adobe analytics API in a similar way to how it integrates with Google Analytics. Before optimizing any website, it helps to have a big picture view of the website. For example, what does “Protocol Relative Resource Links” mean? It does not create many colorful charts for SEOs to use to spice up SEO reports. There is no direct link to the help for some of the items mentioned in the interface, so it can be difficult to know what they mean. The tool doesn't start crawling from a website's sitemap (if there is one) unless you tell it to do so (starting from the sitemap invariably gives you better results and it is more likely that it will crawl the whole site). The data it presents is quite raw, which is fine for a seasoned SEO expert, but website owners and administrators will be less happy with the lack of guidance on how to interpret the data to improve SEO. There is no “take a tour” feature for familiarisation with the interface. I really liked the feature for creating XML sitemaps, and you have more control over these than other XML sitemap generators. It's great the way you can export metrics and errors for inclusion in your SEO proposal documents. It also integrates well with Majestic and Ahrefs tools. I found that the integration with Google Analytics (so you can see GA data alongside key onsite data) to be very beneficial and not something I have seen in other tools. It is a bit overwhelming, but that is a product of the extensiveness of the product. The crawl is very fast and there are plenty of ways to configure the tool to report on the metrics that I or my clients think are the most important. The product is a very good and thorough way of analyzing the data important for SEO and website health in a tabular form. There really isn't anything that I don't like about it. No bugs, very easy to use, very easy to learn, very light software (no high hardware requirements), very fast, very useful, very cheap, regular updates with new features, you buy it and you have it on your pc, not web-based. It is a perfect tool and I highly recommend it. You see images without alt tags, You can sort and filter properties, find duplicates. You get to see H1 and H2 headings, number of words on every page, page loading speed. With SF you can see in a glance if there are any issues with the titles and descriptions, URL structure, internal links, meta robot tags like canonicals and noindex, if robots.txt blocks access to valuable pages, and so on. It is super useful for the initial audit, when you want to check if the site has any major flaws. It saves you huge amount of time and gives you a deep understanding of the website you're working on. If you do SEO, Screaming Frog is an absolutely mandatory tool.
